A Letter About Heartbreak

This blog has moved.
Last week I was at Aldo's and saw this beauty - the Petrona. Now, I actually have a few injuries in my legs and haven't been wearing heels nearly as much as I used to. I'm also not supposed to be wearing heels for a while. But when I saw this, I got weak in the knees. My heart skipped a beat. I was out of breathe. I had to have these - for when I'm back to wearing heels. I absolutely HAD to have them. Well, as you probably can tell from the title of this post - I couldn't have them. They didn't have them in my size. They didn't even have them in the next size up - I would've worn that with insoles. But no, they didn't have it. They didn't have any online. They didn't have any at any stores in the neighboring states. Nowhere.

I felt like I had gone from being head over heels in love (pun intended) to being stabbed in my heart, within a matter of seconds. It was like no pain I had ever felt before. Am I being a little overdramatic? Probably. Do I care? No. I'm a girl whose heart has been shattered. All I wanted was to bring the love of my life home with me. And I couldn't.

So, dear Aldo's designers and executives - this is a letter to you. I need this shoe in my life. I'll be waiting.

Signed,
Heartbroken & Helpless

Outfit: Burgundy & Neon

This blog has moved.

This top (also seen here) is clearly becoming a new favorite. I wore this outfit to school last week and feel like it's the perfect casual look! Btw, I scored these boots for $10!

Outfit: Lace Skirt

This blog has moved.

OMG this is my 100th post, you guys! This look is so different for me, personally. I guess it's my spin on office wear - since I'm graduating in a few short weeks, and all! :-0 When I used to work, before grad school, I would never stick to the typical blacks/greys/blues. I always loved wearing colors. So, this is me prepping myself for when I'm back in the workforce - which will be soon, hopefully. The great thing about this outfit is that it's totally work appropriate (even without a blazer!) and can still be worn straight to happy hour!

Outfit: Coral & Turquoise

This blog has moved.

I love that the colors on this dress are so intense! As I had mentioned in this post, this dress is one of the 3 items I ended up keeping from the Prabal for Target collection. I absolutely love the dress, my only issue is that it gets wrinkled. I feel like this is the perfect outfit for work, or a Sunday brunch!

Btw, if you follow me in Instagram or Twitter, you might have seen that I got a new haircut last week. I've got a few more outfit posts from before the new haircut so I'll debut the new 'do on the blog next week! :)

Outfit: Emerald Shoes

This blog has moved.

These shoes are one of my absolute favorites - I bought them a few years ago and it was totally meant to be. The thing is, I had been eyeing them for a while but didn't wanna spend the full price. So, one day I was at the mall with Sheela when we saw that Steve Madden had a Spin The Wheel sale. I figured why not give it a shot? Well, I won 40% off of one item and I bought these shoes! They also just happen to be in Pantone's 2013 color of the year!

April's Covet List

Bag / Dress / Boots / Bracelet / Pants / Necklace
Bag: Y'all probably already recognize the bag! I've always wanted this bag and I absolutely love it in this beautiful, pastel color!

Dress: Well, black & white is one of THE hottest trend this spring. What I love about this dress is that the white part is actually faux leather. I already have another piece in white faux leather and I feel like it's the perfect mix of summer+girly+edgy.

Boots: These boots are pretty much a far more affordable version of the Chloë studded boots. I absolutely love them - they're super versatile and edgy.

Bracelet: I am sort of obsessed with animal bangles of this kind, and I already own a couple (seen here, here, here, here, to mention a few). J.Crew puts out a new animal bangle every season and I love each and every one. This one, however, is a bit special because I've always been in awe of dolphins - they fascinate me!

Pants: Military-inspired is another huge trend this spring so, I feel like I pretty much need these ankle skinnies, no?

Necklace: You might have noticed in some of my recent posts (like this one) that lately I've been gotten into stacking multiple little pendant necklaces. I've gathered quite a few necklaces and this would be the perfect addition!

What are you coveting right now?

Outfit: Minimalist

Happy Fat Tuesday, doll faces! Btw, in case you didn't already figure it out - I'm not shaving my head! It was just an April Fool's joke! :-P I'm too much of a chicken to do that so I'll just stick with getting a regular trim!
So, I bought this coat a while ago but then realized that it's not really a coat. What I mean is that it's not really warm or practical for actual cold weather. But I got it for $19.99 and it's pretty fab so I figured I'll save it for spring!

Outfit: Yellow Blouse

Happy Monday, lovies! You know I just realized I've been so drawn to yellow lately - I've posted quite a few outfits recently with yellow tops. So, this will have to be the last of it - it's time to stop the discrimination! Anyways, I wanna share something with you guys ....

Casual Friday Outfit: Studded Sweatshirt

Happy Good Friday, guys!! I'm not a typically one to wear sweatshirts, unless I'm working out or bumming at home. This sweatshirt, however, is a different story. Not only is it super cozy and comfortable, it's also cute and edgy! AND it's in a pretty easter color!

Thursday, March 28, 2013

Outfit: Bright Pants

OMG I scored these ankle pants at H&M, for $7, last week and I am obsessed with the color - aren't they amazeballs? I wore this outfit while running errands yesterday and then to dinner dinner, last night - though I actually ended up carrying a small crossbody bag to dinner. You'll be seeing a lot more of these pants on the blog because I pretty much wanna wear them everyday!

Outfit: Floral Jeans

I know the first day of Spring was last week but it didn't actually feel like Spring until yesterday. So, I decided to go all out, in my floral pants.

Outfit: Black & White Stripes + Neon

Although, I've rocked black and white stripes before (here and here), I feel like they're kinda tricky to wear. A lot of the tops and pants I've seen look like the footlocker uniform and that, most definitely, is not the look I want. So, when Kristina, of Pretty Shiny Sparkly, posted that the next Bloggers Do It Better challenge is Black & White stripes, I wasn't sure if I would be linking up. That was, until I found this skirt! These stripes are perfect and it's an adorable skirt - this outfit makes me miss the Seaside Heights boardwalk in the summer!

Trend Alert: Military Inspired

Happy Monday, guys! Hope you had a wonderful weekend! I had spring break last week but it wasn't nearly as exciting as I had thought it would be. I spent the first half packing for and stressing about a trip that never happened. The second half was spend being sick, recovering from it, and unpacking from that trip that never happened. Anyways, I have a midterm tomorrow so I spent the weekend attempting to study for it! Jealous? Right! I bet your regular work weeks were more exciting than my spring break!

It wasn't all bad though! As mentioned in my Easter Finds post, I participated in a group giveaway, and I have a ton of new followers! So, before we talk about today's post, I want to welcome all my new followers - I hope you guys will enjoy Stilettos & Sequins! Also, have you guys listened to Justin Timberlake's new album? I mean, I had it on repeat alllll weekend! OK, moving on to today's post ....

Military-inspired is definitely one of my top five favorite Spring 2013 Trends! Personally, I feel like this would be more of a Fall/Winter trends but I'm more than happy to rock it this spring! As I had mentioned in this post, when I like a trend, I like to add 1 or 2 versatile pieces for that trend to my wardrobe. It's the best way to get your wardrobe ready for that season! So, I've picked out some of my favorite military-inspired pieces to help you update your wardrobe!
Maxi Dress / Scarf / Earrings / Bag / Short Dress / Wedge Booties / Camo Pants / Flats / Eagle Necklace / Camo Tee
Sandals / Dog tag Necklace / Khaki Green Pants / Embellished Camo Jacket / Combat Boots
I wish I could buy each of these items but if I had to pick one, I would probably pick the scarf - you guys already know about my neon obsession, don't you? So, which of these pieces is your favorite?

ProFlowers Review - Scammed

I know ProFlowers has been around for a while but this is my first personal experience with them and it was so awful that I had to share with you guys!

For my birthday a couple weeks ago, Sheela sent me 2 dozen roses. When I received the package, I was so excited but I was a bit confused when I opened it. Here's a picture of what they looked like
I was confused because I know that Sheela would NEVER send me these flowers - she would send me something way more colorful. Also, the flowers were not fresh at all. Oh, AND these roses had no fragrance. At all! How's that even possible?

So, the next day I call Proflowers and I told them I received these awful, stale flowers and the lady told me she'll re-order the 2 dozen rainbow roses for me. Rainbow roses???? Yea, that's what Sheela had ordered for me - makes a lot more sense. Except when I looked for the rainbow roses bouquet on their site, this is the picture I saw
Well, you guys see the problem, right? She ordered a birthday bouquet and I received a funeral bouquet. I told the lady on the phone that my bouquet had literally ONE colored rose. So, she says to me that the colored roses must not have passed the quality control check. I mean, what the eff kinda bullshit is that? So, if someone orders a bouquet of white flowers and the white flowers don't pass their QC check, they send a bouquet of bright ass flowers? That's stupid! Anyways, I decided I'll wait for them to resend me the bouquet. Well, a few days later, I received my reorder and this is what it looked like
No, this is not the same bouquet from the first picture. This is what they sent me the second time around. I mean, are they kidding me? Once again, the same ONE colored rose!! I mean, they looked slightly fresher the second time around but still - NOT what Sheela had ordered! This is insulting and it's a freakin' scam! I eventually told Sheela what had happened and she said she called them the minuted I posted the first picture on Instagram because she was upset when she saw what they had sent me!

Also, on the phone, the lady told me they send buds coz they want us to "see the roses bloom". Well, I followed all the instructions they sent to the T and, over a week later, 80% of the buds didn't bloom Mostly coz they were stale to begin with. The buds just died, as buds.

So, I will NEVER use ProFlowers. Ever. And you shouldn't either. Save your money and a lot of disappointment. Have you guys had any experience with ProFlowers? Or other such companies? Is there one that you guys prefer? I'm not wrong to be upset, am I?

UPDATE: After I tweeted this post, someone from ProFlowers CS contacted me, asking me to call them. So, I did. Basically, I was told that the bouquet Sheela picked is one of the lower end (or discounted) bouquets and it's supposed to be an assortment of roses. Essentially, what it means is that since it's not ridiculously expensive, they just throw in whatever stale, colorless, roses they did not want to put in the more expensive bouquets. Anyways, Sheela has since been given credit for the bouquet she sent (ProFlowers credit). Also, they are now sending me a third bouquet! This time, however, they're sending me a different one - one that's "guaranteed" to have a lot of bright flowers. I told her it wasn't just a color issue. The first bouquet was actually stale!

Anyways, you know how I feel about the third bouquet? Whatever. They should've gotten it right the first time. Or, at least, the second damn time.

Birthday Party: Black & White Leather

So, my birthday is coming up on tomorrow but I actually celebrated last Saturday. I was so hot and cold about my party this year that I didn't actually decide on an outfit until the day before. Once I had this outfit figured out, though, I was super excited. I love that it combines two of my absolute favorite Spring 2013 trends - Black & White, and (faux) Leather!

I actually went to a day party this year and was able to take some pictures before we headed out.

Outfit: Distressed Jeans + Pops of Color

We've seen a few days with really nice weather in NJ lately which I absolutely love!! Initially, I had paired this outfit with my favorite black bag (seen here, here, and here). But then I thought this green bag (also seen here) would look so much better with these yellow pumps. What do you guys think? Btw, the title of this post has to do with the fact that this outfit made me wish I was in LA!

Also, I'm participating in a Lucky Magazine contest and I would REALLY appreciate it if you could take a quick second and VOTE for me! Thank youuuuuuuu!!

Outfit: My Favorite Coat & Boots

Happy Monday, lovies! Today's post is pretty much about my favorite coat (also seen here), favorite boots (also seen here), and the fact that my mom is an amazing photog (she randomly captured the picture above, and the one below, while I was walking)!

Outfit: Stripes + A Dash of Green

I'm so proud of my mom - she's gotten so good at taking pictures. She randomly captured this and I love how you can see the bag's super cute lining! Btw, it was a little windy when I took these pictures so, please pardon the messy hair.

My Favorite Skirt + A Birthday Month Giveaway

You know how sometimes the strangest things happen and you can't find an explanation for it? That's kind of what happened with this skirt (also seen here and here). I bought this skirt years ago and it's been my favorite skirt since. Then a couple years ago, the skirt went missing. I searched my entire house - the skirt was nowhere to be found. The skirt was so old that it wasn't even being sold anywhere anymore. Finally, after months of searching, I found it on eBay and ordered it right away! How this skirt just went missing isn't even the strangest part though - it gets stranger.

Last week, I was sitting in my room, doing my hair. In the same exact place where I always sit and do my hair. I happen to look over under my dresser (not the first time I've looked there either) and I see something. Wanna guess what it was? Yep, my old skirt. After years of having gone MIA,  it reappeared just like that! It's so strange because when I was searching for the skirt, I'm pretty sure I had looked under my dresser several times! I'm super excited I now have two of my favorite skirt but I still wonder - just what in the heck happened there?

No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you - that's not me! Hehe. This is my classmate, Richa. Yesterday, Richa sent me this picture because another classmate of ours, Racquel, loved this outfit. OOTD: Student Style

So, my bangs have gotten super long but I don't wanna get a haircut yet. Usually, when my bangs start growing out, I just braid em and pin em back.

As for the outfit, sometimes I like to put together a bunch of basics with one piece that pops - perfect for a day at school! I love, love, LOVE this scarf! Also, if you've seen some of my previous posts, you know I'm obsessed with these boots and this bag.

Outfit: All About The Bag

You know how there are certain pieces that just deserve to have an entire outfit planned around them? Well, I feel like this bag is one of those. Yesterday was supposed to be warm and sunny so I thought I could wear this outfit but it turned out to be cold and gloomy. Clearly, I'm already in Spring mode.

2013 Oscars Best Dressed

As with the rest of the shows this award season, I was generally underwhelmed by the fashion at the Oscars, for the most part. Obviously, my expectations were too high! Anyways, while there were no looks that belong in this list, there were definitely a few looks that wowed me! Here they are -

Before I get to best dressed, I wanna mention Charlize Theron who's in her own category - Fashgasm.
Charlize Theron in Dior Haute Couture. She looks MAJOR and that hair - SO fierce!
She's one of maybe 5 people who can make a pixie look this badass and sexy!
And now onto my best dressed picks -
My new bff Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture. *swoon* I mean, I freakin' LOVE her!
She looks UH-MAHHH-ZING! Oh, and btw Anne, THIS is what a winner looks like!
Naomi Watts in Armani Privé. She looks freakin' fabulous - that cutout is SO major!
Kerry Washington in Miu Miu.
Though I'm not surprised she wore Miu Miu, she def WERQED this look!
Stacy Keibler in Naeem Khan - beautiful and elegant!
I hadn't initially added this to my list but Sheela made me take a 2nd look and I fell in love!
Sandra Bullock, classy as ever, in Elie Saab. Look at the intricate details on that dress!
Also, how excited was I that Olivia Munn stunned in one of the dresses I had picked -
Olivia Munn in Marchesa - gorgeous!!
Now, I don't usually do worst dressed but I'm actually SO upset about this that I'm gonna HAVE to! You see, this is going to go to be one of the worst Oscar dresses of ALL-TIME. So, it deserved a mention, no?
Anne Hathaway in Prada.
Like, are you freaking kidding me? The girl could've worn ANYTHING and she chose THIS?
It's almost insulting! And the nipples? I mean, come on - this is a classy affair!
She reminds me of Wilma Flintsone! Why, Anne? WHY??
Ok, rant over.
Do you guys agree with this list or do y'all think I missed someone?
